    Principal

    I am honored and excited to serve as principal and to join a school community with such a strong tradition of caring for students and supporting their success. I look forward to building strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners as we work together to make this a wonderful year of growth and achievement. I believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported, and committed to creating a welcoming school environment where all students can thrive. With nearly three decades of experience as a teacher, reading coach, assistant principal, and principal, I bring a deep commitment to high expectations, excellent instruction, school improvement, innovation, and meaningful STEAM learning experiences that help prepare students for the future.

  • Brittney Friesen

    Assistant Principal

    My name is Brittney Friesen, and I am honored to serve in my fifth year as an Assistant Principal at West Gate Elementary School. With over 15 years of experience in education, including roles as a special education teacher and middle school special education department chair, I am passionate about building strong relationships and fostering a positive school culture where every student feels valued, supported, and encouraged to attend school each day.

    As both an educator and a parent, I understand the importance of creating a school environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. My son is entering first grade in Prince William County Schools, which further strengthens my commitment to treating every child with the same care, compassion, and dedication that I would want for my own.

    I am excited to continue partnering with our students, families, and staff as we work together to support student growth, celebrate achievements, and make this school year a successful and rewarding experience for every learner.

  • Jamilla Gault

    Assistant Principal
    Greetings, Wonderful West Gate Community!
    My name is Jamilla Gault, and I am honored to begin my second year as Assistant Principal at West Gate Elementary School and my 20th year serving students and families in Prince William County Schools. It is truly a privilege to be part of such an exceptional community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to support our students, staff, and families each day.
    As an educator and leader, I believe that strong relationships are the foundation of student success. I consider myself a caring, compassionate, and servant-hearted leader who is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, respected, and empowered to reach their fullest potential. Helping students discover their strengths, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to achieve their dreams is at the heart of everything I do.
    I am deeply passionate about student achievement and dedicated to fostering academic excellence through meaningful collaboration with teachers, staff, families, and community partners. Throughout my career, I have worked to ensure that all students, regardless of their starting point, have access to the opportunities, encouragement, and support needed to thrive. With more than 18 years of experience in special education and educational leadership, I have been a strong advocate for meeting the diverse needs of learners and celebrating the unique gifts each child brings to our school community.
    My journey in Prince William County Schools includes more than 14.5 years as a special education teacher at Mullen Elementary School in Manassas and over 3.5 years teaching at PACE East, These experiences have shaped my belief in the power of resilience, relationship-building, and the importance of helping every student feel seen, heard, and supported.
    I earned my undergraduate degree from Howard University in 2002, a Master's degree in Special Education from George Mason University in 2011, and recently completed my Administration and Supervision PreK-12 certification through Shenandoah University in May 2025.
    Outside of school, family is my greatest joy. My husband is a music educator in Stafford County, Virginia, and together we are proud parents of three talented daughters who love singing, music, and theater. Our twin daughters are members of the Class of 2027, and our youngest daughter is in 8th grade. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, I have called Northern Virginia home for the past 20 years.
    I am excited to continue partnering with our students, families, and staff as we work together to make West Gate a place where every child feels connected, supported, and inspired to learn. I look forward to another wonderful year of growth, achievement, and success for all.
